Dear AUSD Families,
†Arcadia Unified School District is proud to have successfully achieved a 1:1 Chromebook ratio with students in all grade levels and programs, meaning each student and teacher in our district has their own Chromebook to work with. Using their direct access to Chromebooks, students have been more engaged in their work than ever which has allowed for more feedback from teachers and new opportunities for collaboration. Though this process has presented some challenges, we have used each learning opportunity to refine this ever-evolving program.
Students in grades 6 - 12 have been assigned devices for use in school and at home through the school year. After considering all options, we are excited to let you know that we will not collect the Chromebooks from students in grades 6 - 11 at the end of the school year. This will allow us to provide students with summer learning resources and opportunities, provide 1:1 Chromebooks for summer programs, and promote the value that learning does not end with a school day or year. As with all aspects of our Chromebook rollout, we will continue to evaluate and adjust the program as needed.
We would like to remind you that all internet usage on the Chromebook is filtered and monitored by Arcadia Unified School District when students are at school and home. Our filters are continually updated, but no filter is 100% effective. Please communicate with your child frequently about their online activities, about the importance of a positive digital footprint, and about responsible use of technology.
The Arcadia High School library will be our repair center during the summer. This service is being provided to ensure that all devices are in working order for the start of 2017-2018 school year.
